EYPS Training Pathways

Tribal has been approved by CWDC to deliver training within Greater London, the east and south-east regions. We currently deliver training from a number of locations within our regions and are looking to add to these in the future:

Currently we only deliver the Fulltime Pathway from our Dartford, West Norwood and Newham locations.

Our courses are highly flexible and completely customisable and can be delivered either at one of our partnership colleges/institutions or through supported distance and on-line learning.

Course fees and funding

All tutor fees are free to successful candidates on all Pathways. CWDC also provide funding to cover supply costs for candidates on work-based Pathways who are currently working in private, voluntary and independent early years settings. We pay out this funding to the candidate's place of work in three installments - at the beginning, middle and end points of the course, once assessment is complete.

Training Pathways to EYPS

We will review the information in your application to recommend the most appropriate training Pathway for you, but to get an initial indication of the Pathway that may suit you best you can download and complete a self-evaluation form.

We offer the following Pathways to obtaining EYPS:

Short EPD

This Pathway to EYPS is for those who meet the entry requirements, are very close to demonstrating the Standards and have experience of leading & supporting others. We find that even very experienced practitioners benefit from the extra tailored training sessions that the Short Pathway can provide.

This pathway is also suitable for those who may be very experienced with one or two of the age groups, but not all of them. This course will be customised to ensure that you gain experience in all age groups to meet the EYP Standards, and it will top up your knowledge base where needed.

The completion of this course will take six months on a part-time basis, including the four month validation process. It will consist of up to three training days (or equivalent half day sessions) and four preparation days. There is a £1,000 grant available to the setting.

Long EPD

This course option is open to graduates who need more time to gain the necessary experience and knowledge to meet the Standards for all three age groups. We are also looking to be able to offer training to candidates with Early Years foundation degrees, where you will be able to ‘top up’ your existing qualification to a full degree alongside EYPS training, thus meeting the entry requirements. This will be done in partnership with universities within our regions.

This Pathway will take fifteen months on a part-time basis (consisting of monthly whole-day training sessions and including the four month validation process). There is a £4,000 grant available to the setting.

Full training pathway

The final pathway is the full training pathway which is available for graduates with typically very limited experience of working with children from birth to five.

The course lasts 12 months on a full time basis (consisting of weekly training sessions and including the four month part-time validation process), during which the candidate will undertake 18 weeks of placements in order to gain experience of working with all age groups from birth to five years, as well as the knowledge to meet the Standards. A £5,000 bursary is paid to each candidate on this pathway.
